The artisan process of olive wood

The working of olive wood at Putika follows a slow, respectful path, starting with the selection of trunks from Italian olive groves. Branches and stumps are chosen at the end of their productive cycle, making the most of a material that would otherwise be wasted and creating a circular economy deeply rooted in the Mediterranean land.

After a natural seasoning that can last several months, the wood is cut by hand by our artisans. Every grain is studied to bring out its unique beauty: olive wood is hard, dense, fragrant and rich in unrepeatable natural patterns that make every object one of a kind.

The turning, sanding and finishing stages take place entirely in Italian artisan workshops. We use only natural food-safe oils for the finish, with no chemical varnishes or harsh treatments: this ensures boards, cutlery and accessories that are safe for food contact and perfect for anyone looking for eco-friendly, sustainable products.
